Chronicles of the Forgotten Realm- Staction Intro

Most of you from He-man.org have already seen this, but I haven't posted it on the blog yet. This 3 months to make & i finished it earlier in 2009. There is an Amazingcontest we have at He-man.org held by the ever so talented Thomas Tolman http://www.dinnertablecreations.tolmanbros.com . Every year the wining character design gets transformed into a staction figure. Tom's been hosting this for 5 straight years & I thought I'd contribute a little. Plus the Animator in me just couldn't wait to give life to some off these Awesome characters. Remember they are not my characters( only 2 are) they were created by various .orgers & are either semi finalists of last year & winners of previous years. So without further adue. Here we go!

An Actual Update! After a year. :P Ben 10 Aliens...

First I'm going to hide behind a rock to avoid anyone throwing stones at me. Actually I deserve it for not updating my blog for over a year. :P It's just that things have been really up & down between learning 3d, working on my own stuff & family life. And I upload most of my pics on DA than my blog which you can always visit at www.jazylh.deviantart.com . Fourarms to Arms!

Been long...I know. Things weren't really on the right track after a computer crash but I'm back in business. So what better way to start off than with a pic of one of my top cartoons recently...Ben 10.

Olympus Revisited

Well First of all, I'd like to inform you that I've started my Deviantart account a month back. You can visit it at www.jazylh.deviantart.com .

Next up inline, Here a concept I got a few weeks back. It's just my redesigns of the ancient Greek gods with a bit of a 'Modern' feel to it. Each have their own weapons & I'm seeing this from a toy line perpective.

Good news comes with Bad news!!

Ah well I'll start with the good news...I graduated last Wednesday scoring 79.3% & acquired my Bsc I.T degree. One of the happiest days of my life. Things were great.

Well yesterday, the results for the Animax Pan Asia competition were announced & unfortunately The Beast Legion didn't quite make it to the finals. I got to agree I was dissappointed as I had a little hope. Anyway this has only motivated me to write a new much better script for it the next time the competition is out. The only drawback being that it may not be animated by A1 Pictures. so I guess better luck next time.

I'll have the first part of the first chapter posted here on my blog itself in a few minutes.

Robot Dinos?!...Whats next?

Well stepped into athe transformers territory after quite some time with respect to fan art. I did the character below for a friend of mine from tfarchive.org. It his RPG character called FossilBite who is a TM2 Raptor...honestly I have no idea what that means in TF. Anyway sticking to the Raptor concept, I came up with the sketch & then colored it. I so need to get a hang of coloring metal. Anyway, Enjoy. :)

Beast Legion: Scaraboras

Well, as of now I dont really have a bio for the bug-man of the Shadow Legion. But in his Beast mode his shell makes him impervious to any attacks & his nose can pack a whallop. I'll have more on him until I actually think of using him for an episode.

The Problem with Power

Well this is a sort of cover art I coked up for the MOTU episode problem wuith power. It's simply my vision of a supposed cover. I know I'm far from mastering the Filmation style but I hope you like it.

Caught between a rock & Copperhead!

It's been long since I posted the last pic. well the following pic was just something I did when the staction contest was going on. Zodak finds himself in a very tight spot as he is led into an ambush by King Hsss & faces Copperhead on the other end. I decided to use the MYP blue shading just for fun & imo it worked quite well. The size got a bit out of place though. Anyway heres leaving it to you to decide the outcome of this little confrontation. ;)

Beast Legion Bios: The Doppelganger

The Doppelganger

The Doppelganger is perhaps the Shadow Legions most prized warrior. Haveing the ability to manipulate the form of any one he chooses, he is a great threat to the Defenders of Light & their quest. His ability to transform requires no special armor. Nobody has actually seen his true Beast form although it wil be shown later during season 2.

"The Tree of Woe"

This is a pic I did for the "Practice Makes Perfect" Art Jam we have going. The concept was to focus on expressions in the most natural way. I can't say I nailed it but i was quite satisfied with the final pic. Took me about 20 mins to do the pencils & 45 min to color. I chose a marshlnd as the background for this pic to indicate that the Tree was all alone in the center of the Marshes.

"Brute Force"

Well this a Beast Legion Extra character that will appear in episode 3. This brute is actually one from dozens of such creatures. Ii stuck to a simple yet chunky design. I kinda had a Horse in my head & I decided to design them as a mix of a monster + a horse + a gorilla & heres what I had. I tried a variety of different colors, but green stood out the best. Looking forward to what you think.

I wish I could post the scripts online, but I can't until the results of the competition I enter are out. Anyway here he is.

Violence is Kratos!

Well it's my first feeble attempt at the God of War, Kratos. Definitley not a good peice of work, but I do plan on practicing more of him. So look out for more. The pic definitly has alot of anatomy issues but I still thought of sharing it.

Beast Legion Bios: Tuskas

Cheif Tuskas

Tuskas is the ruler of the Iceland of the north. His village lies secluded in the thick snow regions. Although at first he is a bit reluctant to join the Defenders of Light, he realizes the Shadow legions plan to acquire the Beast armors.

Being the oldest member of their group, he often provides Sound advice & strategies which prove of great use. He has the power to turn liquid into Ice. Standing 6 feet 6 inches tall, He’s a force to be reckoned with in battle & is highly trained. He already has control of his Beast armor when Xeus & gang find him during their search for the armor.

Tuskas’ Beast mode is a giant Walrus, which is equally fast on both land & water. Its attack includes the Walrus Dash & a Giant slam.

He-man & She-ra

Well, been a while since I last posted so i though it should be somehing special. I only wish I were more comfortable with the classic style. Here's He-man & She-Ra along with arch villains.

Beast Legion taken one step ahead!

Well it's time I announce this. Animax, the number 1, Anime channel is holding a Pan Asia Competition & fortunately for me this time, India is on the list. The competition allows participants to enter a script, novel or comic in a 30 min episode format. It can be the continuation of an existing Anime or a brand new concept. The winner gets his script animated by Aniplex, the maakers of FullMetal Alchemist, plus a grand prize of $18,00,00.

Ironically, this contest started only a few weeks after I started drawing the Beast Legion & I kinda see it as a message from above. So I wasted no time & got to writing the first episode & ended p writing 5 . Just sent the scripts along with the character designs yesterday & heres hoping something comes out of it. I'll keep you guys informed as more updates are available, so stay tuned.
